What I Wore Wednesday

It's "What I Wore Wednesday" time again at The Pleated Poppy. If you've been following my blog for a while, some of these pieces will look familiar. And yes, another cardigan outfit for the "What I Wore" post. I just can't help it.

Do I look like a librarian-in-training again? The polka-dot-blouse (also in this thrift store finds post, along with the cardigan) is from the Dollar A Pound thrift store here in Madison- it literally cost me pennies. I'm deeming it "vintage"- it's J.C. Penney brand, 100% polyester, and I love it. The cardigan's from Goodwill for $5, and the belt (which also might look familiar) is from another dress in my closet. The dark wash skinny jeans are from J.C. Penney last year.

That's not all I wore, though. When I left for my mile-long walk to class in the morning, weather.com told me it was 20 degrees outside, and feels like 11. And it's just gonna get colder out. So this is what I looked like to anyone who spotted me on the sidewalk- minus the ridiculous expression, hopefully:

Usually I crop out my head, but that seems unnecessary here. The coat is new, and this was the first time it was cold enough to wear it this year. I got it at Macy's. I usually don't shop there, but it was marked way, way down thanks to a lucky sale. It was worth every penny this morning! The scarf's from H&M, and the hat from New York & Company, both a couple years ago. My friend made the giant mittens for me last year out of a sweater. I love that they match my scarf. :)

Oh, and I also wore these boots from Payless:

  2. Oh my my. I LOVE love love that look you put together! That polka dot blouse is to die for. And RED polka dots no less! Oh so pretty with the red cardigan too. And fun to wear your new Macy's coat, even though it felt like 11 outside!! Yikes. I live in So Ca and I wish I got to dress the part for winter more.

    Happy day!

  3. That outfit is fantastic, only a very chic librarian would wear that. The polka dots are so fresh. Wow I have never been in such cold that you have, I don't think I would leave the house until spring. Happy Thanksgiving and keep warm. ax

  5. Love it! You don't look like a librarian in training-you look super cute! I sometimes feel like I'm overdone when I wear cardigans (which is just about everyday), but they're so versatile!!!

  7. You know, I've been a "lurker" on your blog for awhile now. I love your tutorials. So helpful and inspiring.

And about the "librarian in training" outfit - LOVE IT! I love white with red polka dots. Reminds me of a dress I had as a little girl.

    Have a great Thanksgiving!

  9. hee, so cute! i am totally cracking up about your two 'looks', it's the same way here in Idaho. nothing like a cute outfit topped off with a Christmas Story ensemble to make people do a double take. but really, what an incredible find in that blouse, and yes you look like a librarian but a very well dressed, cute one!
