I've been meaning to make a crochet coin purse with a fabric lining for some time. They're pretty simple to make, and quite a lot of it is done by hand, so it's a good on-the-go project with few necessary materials. That's ideal for holiday traveling, as well as keeping my little room from becoming a giant crafting-induced mess.
For the outside, I actually used a crochet coaster pattern I found here, although I used a 4mm hook instead of a 5. Then all I had to do was fold it in half and add the fabric insert. I ran into a bit of trouble sewing in the zipper (as usual), so this one's not quite up to snuff for gift-giving, as I'd hoped. But I'm hoping the my second go at it will have some better craftsmanship and go a bit quicker, too. Zippers get me every time!
Cute little change purse, I'm glad that it's lined...that makes it so much more practical.

ReplyDeleteI'm not so hot on zippers, either, let alone on a curve! I think your purse looks just fine, although I know what you mean about not wanting to give it as a gift. I can't tell you how many 'slightly imperfect' things I own myself for just that reason, LOL! (As if the recipient would ever see the mistakes that are so glaring to us, right?)
Adorable--alas crocheting not my gift. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking this up to Fibers on Friday! I would love to see you back with any other crochet projects you come up with!
