Quick Hem

I bought this skirt a few weeks ago at Goodwill. I tried it on in a hurry, and decided it was good enough for the $3 price tag. Once I got it home though, it suddenly seemed way too long. I'm all about modesty, but sometimes I like to, you know, show my kneecaps.

I only took off four inches. I used my serger to finish the new edge, and hemmed it up with my sewing machine. Nice to have some practical practice with the serger, too. A new hem might not be an earth shattering project, but I like the skirt a lot more now that it's just a few inches shorter! The final product is difficult to see in the picture, but I've included the skirt in my 30 for 30 Remix, so you'll see a little more of it in the coming weeks.

  1. Love it! I am absolutely a Goodwill and Salvation Army addict and I love to see what other people come home with. Every single pair of pants I own (except my jeans) are from either of those places. And all but 2 of my skirts. My 3 girls and I love to go "hunting" there. Found you through Sew Woodsy's linky party... :-) ~Lori
