Check out this article: Average Woman Owns 22 Garments She Never Wears But Refuses to Junk. Sounds familiar? I contemplated showing you guys a picture of my closet, but I just couldn't bear to. You can imagine it instead. It's really small, with a huge heating duct running through it, and lots of disorganized clothes shoved inside. How does yours look?
I could blame my disorganization on my closet being too small. After all, we'd all love to have a closet like this one:

But even the smallest of closets can look great and be accessible. This one at Ask Nubby is much, much more organized than mine!
My boyfriend says that he's pretty sure I own over 100 shirts. This is a gross exaggeration, but maybe he's got a point. In just the first week or two of the 30 for 30 challenge, I picked out several shirts that I don't wear enough to justify them taking up space in my closet. They're in a bag that I'm slowly adding to that's gotta go to St. Vinnie's.
How do you guys organize your closets? Do you regularly clean it out and give to Goodwill? Or do you rely on really great organization to keep up with all your stuff? Leave a comment and let me know!
I need closet help...thanks for pointing me in the right direction :)
ReplyDeleteI am organizationally challenged so I tend to 2 a closet clean-outs a year. Usually early spring and late fall. The hubs and kids do their own and we make a big trip to Goodwill or have the Vets come and pick up. I always love it when I have extra space in the closet but it always tends to fill up quickly - you know just in time for the next clean out - the ultimate recycling, right? :)
ReplyDeleteIn the "work" section of my closet, I pair my tops with the corresponding bottoms. I never have to think up an outfit this way, and while it doesn't look as nice from the outside, it makes my mornings so easy, that I can't imagine going back to having all my shirt hanging together, all my skirts/pants, etc. Good luck figuring this out!
