Let not your hearts be troubled: Calligraphy for Mother's Day

I've been working on calligraphy a little bit more.

I rarely share personal information on my blog, but some of you might know or remember that my mother passed away in December of 2010. This is from the gospel reading that she selected for her funeral service. Practicing calligraphy goes a little easier when I have a phrase or two that's of particular significance to me. As you can see, I've still got some practicing to do, but I'm enjoying it.

Today I'm celebrating mother's day with my aunt and her family, and thinking of my mom, who would love to spend this sunny Mother's Day drinking a Diet Coke and reading a book out on the deck- her idea of a perfect day.

Happy Mother's Day to all my readers who are moms; I hope it's a special one!

  2. I lost my Mom in January 2008, and the first Mother's Day is definitely the hardest. I am slowly finding that I am able to focus on the lovely memories and it becomes a little bit easier as time goes by. I hope that despite missing your Mom and the sorrow you must have been feeling, you did have a good day with your aunt and family.

And by the way, your calligraphy looks beautiful! In fact I think it would look lovely in a frame!
