One Shoulder Dresses

I think one of the factors that keeps me from actually accomplishing projects is that I have too many ideas. It's easier to come up with ideas than finished products, and also really easy to forget about ideas before they even reach the table. Other factors, like school and work and social lives also tend to get in the way.

Either way, I've been thinking a lot about making a one shoulder dress, especially since someone mentioned that it would be easy to turn the pillowcase upcycle into something one-shouldered. I don't think I would use a pillowcase, but maybe a similar concept. That is, if I went patternless. I also have this Butterick pattern, although it's a little fancier than I'm thinking.

Here's some inspiration photos- tell me what you think!

I like the ruffle on this one, but not the blue jersey.

Blaque Label- love the shoulder detail

  1. That last one reminds me of this: http://www.simplicity.com/p-6066-misses-dresses-cynthia-rowley-collection.aspx

Just omit the shoulder strap and make it out of light blue/white seersucker.

I agree about the projects thing! I have about 5 billion things I want to make (including a quilt) but time just seems to get away from me.

  4. There is not much fame in my life and I don't know that being mentioned, not even by name, on someones blog equals fame but it was me who mentioned about the off the shoulder dress and for some reason this makes me happy!! LOL! I really must get a life - haha! Anyway you should go for it! Love your blog and wish I could sew. Cheers from Australia, Jane :)
